The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — A New Category May Address This Issue

As any prominent awards ceremony draws close, there’s always a demand to include of new categories to recognize overlooked contributions and delight the spirits of followers with niche passions.

My colleague has already made for a horror game category. That would rule. So would strategy board titles, which is a dedicated supporter's campaign. However, I must insist if I try to elbow in front since similar to dedicated enthusiasts, I possess a compelling case for why my demand stands as crucial and significant. Here's the proposal: There should be a category for puzzle games.

The Genre Classification Challenge

Categorizing art by genre defies precise measurement; it’s very subjective, and inevitably start arguments resulting in unclear classifications. It's understandable that film award organizations don’t do it. Yet it remains a necessary evil for the industry of gaming, which are so diverse they barely qualify one unified medium.

For the full spectrum of achievement in video games to be recognized, and to ensure all game types to have a chance for representation, specific award classifications remain vital.

Current Gaming Award Categories

The major gaming awards currently feature award types recognizing Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, Role-Playing, Combat games, Sim/Strategy, and Sports/Racing games. Together, these classifications effectively encompass a lot of ground, and you can find room for numerous titles.

This doesn't apply to brain-teasing titles. No suitable classification appears to put them. Think about these recent excellent titles, showing diverse approaches: structural challenges from a specific release, fast-paced pattern recognition in a different title, thought-provoking social scenarios in another game. Which classification works among existing types? Unfortunately, nowhere.

Recognition Challenges

There are dozens of brilliant puzzle games launched regularly lacking appropriate categories at major award shows, if they accidentally match classification types such as Mobile Game, Virtual reality experiences, and the highly challenging Indie races.

  • A renowned logic title wasn’t nominated completely in 2014
  • A different innovative game missed out that year
  • A beloved organization game received no acknowledgment that year
  • Just some logic titles barely qualified for small studio or handheld classifications

Significance of Puzzle Games

These are often compact experiences, but the art behind logic titles carries substantial weight. Iconic mobile puzzle games stand as most engaged experiences globally and have been for an extended period.

The iconic tile-matching title challenges popular creative games for the title of highest-selling title ever; it’s also in the running for top gaming experience. Logic titles represent cornerstones within interactive entertainment, and they are in conversation with almost every other genre.

Proposal and Rationale

Brain-teasers wouldn't encounter that issue. You could fill five nominees interesting, varied, worthy titles annually without trouble — or rather, with difficulty, since numerous excellent so many good games out.

Restating the point, these are games without proper classification during prominent ceremonies. Brain-teaser creators are working at the hard edge interactive creation, creating some of most fundamental forms of gaming itself. Comparable to movie stunt professionals, they warrant appreciation. Let’s not keep them waiting generations.
