Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hardcourt
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.
Now training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.
It is his first trophy since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface after spring of 2023.
Victory also indicates the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one various tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.
"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to question if his capacity to play at the elite level was concluded.
But the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, backed up by an better service.
Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.
The pair exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first tour title, seized the initiative to create a decider.
The opponent defended 4 early-game break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, the winner clinched the title with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
